We hold open auditions every year for children and young people to take part in our Wakefield Youth Music Theatre shows and our Pantomime chorus. By joining our Performance Academy or In on the Act training programmes, you will also have a chance to perform on our stage.

Our Wakefield Youth Music Theatre shows are high-quality, popular musical theatre productions with a full cast made up of local children and young people. They are performed at Theatre Royal Wakefield for ten performances to audiences of over 4,000 people. The age range for our Youth Musicals change from year to year dependant on the production.
Our annual pantomime is the biggest event of the year at Theatre Royal Wakefield. 2019’s production of Jack and the Beanstalk played to 31,500 audience members. The chorus, made up of local young people, plays a crucial role in making the show spectacular. The schedule is tough and requires commitment and discipline, but it is also a brilliant opportunity to perform alongside and work with a professional cast and crew.
