Donate to Theatre Royal Wakefield

Not everyone knows it, but we are a charity and don’t receive any regular public funding, relying on the generous support of people like you. This allows us to continue our valuable, life changing work in the Wakefield District, including work with young people from low-income families, socially isolated older people, refugees and asylum seekers and adults working to improve their mental wellbeing.

The Matcham Auditorium turns 125!

Our wonderful Matcham Auditorium celebrates its 125th Anniversary on 15 October 2019.

Built in 1894, Theatre Royal Wakefield, the jewel in Wakefield’s crown, was the design and vision of famous architect Frank Matcham.  Since its conception, Matcham’s Theatre has been at the heart of the Wakefield community – no matter what its use – whether as a theatre, or cinema house, or Lucky Seven’s Bingo Hall!

To ensure Matcham’s Auditorium is around to be enjoyed for another 125 years, we are embarking on a campaign to secure the future of the auditorium! It is slightly run down and worse for wear, so every donation, however large or small, will be greatly received.

By donating…

£62.50 – you can refurbish a seat in the auditorium

£125 – you can refurbish two seats

£1,250 – you could refurbish a whole row of seats
