What do you do?
I am the Communications & Programme Manager at Theatre Royal Wakefield.
What shows/training did you take part in at Theatre Royal Wakefield and when?
I joined Theatre Royal Wakefield’s Young Writers in 2013 and began to write reviews for several performances shown at the theatre. This improved my creative writing skills and allowed me to have the opportunity to see many different performances.
I joined In on the Act in September 2012 and began to get involved with all aspects of theatre. Here I enjoyed workshops involving devising, directing, singing, movement, facilitating, etc, exploring a whole range of techniques, all the time while having fun, making friends and expanding my experiences as a performer. With In on the Act I performed in Grimm Tales in 2013 and The Accrington Pals in 2014 among other smaller projects.
How did being involved with Theatre Royal Wakefield make a difference?
Being in involved with Theatre Royal Wakefield has brought me nothing but success. It has introduced me to the real industry and the people who work in it. Presented with endless opportunities, I have been exposed to all the inner workings behind the stage I so love to perform on, allowing me to experience them all. The doors it has opened for me have been exciting and satisfied my need to explore the arts and what it has to offer. It has also helped me realise that the arts as an industry is something I’m meant to be a part of.
