Theatre Royal Wakefield welcomes the 18th Wakefield Drama Festival. This annual event showcases the work of the best amateur drama groups across the region. Seven plays in seven days presented by seven different companies; a mixture of comedy, tragedy and drama.
Your image is in her sight but she cannot see you. Your memory is in her heart but she cannot remember you. Your name freezes on her lips.
Our sky is one whole and the water another. The Woman is stuck between these two infinites. She takes refuge in music but is lost between the notes. She crawls into the spaces and shelters between the need to remember and the longing to forget. As she looks deeper into her own heart she yearns for a reunion with her lost self. Before she can complete her journey, she has to revisit the past. She tries to recall the vivacity of adolescence once alive and heady with anticipation but remembers instead the bitter taste of life now stale on her lips. The Woman has to make peace with the decisions she made and the mistakes that ensured. Only then can she return to the happy times when she danced under the stars and embraced the first flush of youth. Be strong you are not alone. We will walk with you. We will hold your hand every step of the way. We are your memories, we are your music. We are the love in your heart.
