Volunteers & Placements

Theatre Royal Wakefield has a defined Work Placement Scheme that is transparent, accessible and relevant.  We are committed to providing experience to those successful applicants who are selected in order to develop the skills base of local young people and the prospective workforce.  All placements are planned, monitored and evaluated however, in order to provide a meaningful experience we limit the numbers that we take on throughout the year.  The scheme consists of two strands:

  • the week long ‘Carousel’ placement aimed at those under the age of 18, unsure what area they want to focus upon within the Theatre.  The individual will undertake 10 sessions throughout the week in various different departments of the Theatre to enable an all round experience. The next round of Carousel Placements are as follows:
    • 21st - 25th May 2012 (applications due in Friday 30 April 2012)
    • 22nd - 26th October 2012 (applications due in Friday 7 September 2012)
    • 11th - 15th February 2013 (applications due in Friday 21st December 2012)

For an insight in to a Carousel Placement please read - Molly’s Blog

and

  • the ‘Specialist’ placement aimed at those aged over 18 that seeks to focus on a particular area of work such as backstage, marketing, box office and front of house or administration
