Wakefield Youth Music Theatre (WYMT)
Wakefield
Youth Music Theatre is a company of young people who come together once or
twice a year to produce and perform a large scale musical for Theatre Royal
Wakefield.
They rehearse over a two week period and perform the show up to 11 times.
“Brilliant acting skills and voices to match… The whole ensemble were
great”
Lindsay Pantry, Wakefield Express
Places in the company are offered on a project by project basis and are subject to audition. At the open auditions, participants are asked to sing and dance, they are judged on a talent and skill basis by the creative team. Competition can be incredibly tough, with upwards of 300 young people attending.
Many of our members go on to study performing arts at some of the top drama schools in the country, and often gain parts in other musicals. One of our ex-members who cast in the first stage production of Billy Elliot!
