Theatre Royal Wakefield’s award-winning Engage programme is designed to inspire
young and old alike through practical engagement with the arts.
Engage aims to champion the arts and creativity as an innovative approach to community development, raising aspirations, delivering training, forging new partnerships through creative engagement and being a specialist professional resource for our community.
Over the past four years Theatre Royal Wakefield’s Engage has delivered a range of activities within the Wakefield District, including:
Raise - Artists in Schools project which aims to promote positive mental health amongst young people through positive engagement with artists.
Wakefield Youth Music Theatre company with over 90 members who produce two major main-house productions per year.
Running a highly successful festival - Moves: A Festival
of Dance - which involved artists, schools and young people working together.
Visiting WMDC schools with an arts-based initiative to promote the National Anti-bullying campaign.
Facilitating workshops run by professional companies visiting the theatre.
